STEM Project Idea

This could be a great school project. Start the process as a freshman in HS and by the time a student graduates, the puzzle will be solved.

Why aren’t mobile devices getting cheaper?

I believe the mobile device is the only technology that hasn’t gone down in price as the technology evolves. Why do we keep going up in price?

Can someone explain why a company creating a cheaper phone wouldn’t move to the top of the food chain?

Dr. V. Mark Durand Receives Third Quality Matters Course Recognition

On April 22, 2019, Dr. V. Mark Durand received Quality Matters Certification for his third online course, Motivation: The Science of Happiness, EXP 4304. Please join us in congratulating him!

David Brodosi USF USFSP

In this course, Dr. Durand guides students through important and fascinating new research on the brain as well as investigations of larger questions about positive thinking, character strengths, wellness and interpersonal relationships. He challenges students to personally apply some of the techniques covered in class with the goal of making their lives happier and more fulfilling.

His other QM Certified courses include: Autism Spectrum Disorders, DEP 4220 (certified on September 7, 2016) and Abnormal Psychology, CLP 4143 (certified on April 27, 2016).

Dr. Durand shares the following thoughts about his experiences with the QM review process:

Going through a Quality Matters review requires you to think through many aspects regarding how your course is delivered and how students learn. From accessibility for students with disabilities to communication with students, it covers a multitude of aspects that improve the online experience for students.

The incredibly hard work and skills of Karla Morris and Caylen Holmes made it much easier to go through this complicated process. They were outstanding and always positive about their work. I am extremely grateful to them and the success of this course with Quality Matters shows that they were invaluable to this outcome.

His course is now listed on the QM database of certified courses and will also be recognized in the Florida Virtual Campus public course catalog as a “High Quality” course.

If you are interested in preparing your course for Quality Matters review, contact Online Learning and Instructional Technology Services for more information.

Augmented Reality: The Future of Education

I think we have a wall that must be breached before we can really benefit from AR in the classroom.  And that’s the cost!  There is no dought that developing AR content isn’t cheap, but that the point in the evolution of AR, schools and school districts can’t afford the price tags. For now, I will just sit in awe over how awesome AR is!  More info from Susan Fourtane below.
